You know, I always used to think that infomercials were really cheesy and, even though I had a lot of ideas and inventions as I've come along, I would have never considered making an infomercial. But that is the mentality that most Americans have and it is one that we need to break - and here's why.

Making an infomercial is a great way to launch your product. Today's world of intellectual property is one that is in favor of the consumer - not the inventor. Long gone are the days when you could come up with something unique and patent it. Even Mickey Mouse has lost its patent! Just think of it this way: the day the iPod came out, a week or two later some kid created the same machine using an altoids can and some radio/laptop parts! And look at the cell phone industry - iPhone comes out and now every phone is touch based and sleek.

So what is the point of all of this? The point is that making an infomercial is the key to what all of these businesses like Apple did to be successful with their idea - get it out there first. Making an infomercial is more about getting people to buy your product first before someone else copies it than anything else. Instead of pitching to some company and risking your idea being stolen, consider making an infomercial and getting your product out there first to start the trend!
