making an infomercial, direct response marketingI'm writing a cookbook for a highly targeted audience, and someone told me I should consider making an infomercial to publicize and educate people on the advantages of the particular cooking technique I plan to use to cook the recipes for my cookbook. I am afraid, however, that the cost will be awfully high to do infomercial advertising. It may pay off in the long run, but until I start generating a little bit of revenue from the book, I don't even think the SBA would float me a loan for infomercial production. In terms of writing, cookbooks are probably the easiest to write, because they are more like how to books than literary, but the food has to be good, and the appearance of the cookbook has to be appealing, especially from an unknown writer and cook. Humm. I have just a few hurdles to get over on this venture. So maybe I'll draw funds from another venture and pump them into my new cookbook venture, and talk to someone who is in direct response marketing before I go forward with making an infomercial.
