Has TV Become One Big Infomercial Advertising Spectacle |

You have seen it at the movies and when watching your favorite TV show, infomercial advertising is everywhere. I would define an infomercial as an understandable script that features a product at work. There are so many instances in live, scripted and reality TV that offer audiences with a look into a new product, what it can do and who is using it. I do not think there is anything wrong with the infomercial production. There are a lot of great products I would buy. I just don’t like it when direct response advertising takes center stage during some form of video entertainment.
The largest culprit for direct response marketing is big budget science fiction movies. Product placement and actors using those products can get ridiculous. I think the best example of direct response advertising in TV is with vehicles. I’m not going to lie I love seeing that new Ford Mustang rip down the street and slide corners but it is basically a lesser form of the infomercial production. Again, I am fine with this fact as long as it does not get out of hand.
